What kind of activities related to the Social Action promotes the Corporation?

Since the beginning, the Cooperative Experience of Mondragón was characterized by their commitment and social responsibility with the environment, being this one of their identity signals. Solidarity is, first of all, an important contribution to the wealth and life quality improvement of the communities where our companies are located: Creating direct employment, generating jobs for other companies and promoting a diversified business activity.

Along with it, the MCC Cooperatives annually invest in social contents activities 10% of their profit, which are directed through the Cooperative Education and Promotion Fund (FEPC). A Fund that in 2003 reached 38 Million Euros and that in the past five years (1999-2003) reached 160 Million Euros (26.500 Million Pesetas).

These important financial resources have been assigned to support:

  • Training and Educational Development Projects: 58 Million Euros in the university field, professional training and general education.

  • Consumerism: 23 Million Euros

  • Research and Development Projects: 11 Million Euros

  • Promotion of Euskera and indigenous languages: 10 Million Euros

  • Attendance initiatives, subsidizing programs and bodies dedicated to social insertion, support to the handicapped, care for elderly people and rehabilitation of drug addicts, NGO activities and Third World development projects, initiatives oriented to the generation of employment of the youth, sports activities and others: 40 Million Euros.
