MCC

Mondragón Corporación Cooperativa (MCC), the Group we belong to, is a business group distinguished by a participatory and fair management model, and by a customer and society service orientation.

MCC began their activity at a Basque town called Mondragón, thanks to the efforts of an exceptional person: José María Arizmendiarrieta. His first initiative was the creation in 1943 of the professional school, and in 1956 five young men from this school founded ULGOR, nowadays Fagor Electrodomésticos, the embryo of the corporation.

Later, new cooperatives were founded. In 1959 Caja Laboral Popular was created, this being a crediting body that had a decisive role in the promotion and development of the cooperatives.

Reference Group

MCC is today the first Business Group of the Basque Country and the seventh in Spain. It is made up of more than 220 companies (150 are cooperatives) and more than 80.000 employees. Currently it has manufacturing plants in 4 Continents and their work force has strongly and continuously grown.

Education and Training

Finally, we must point out that education and training have been the basic lever for the advance and development of the cooperative experience at Mondragón. Currently, several educational centers, from Primary School to the University cover the educational scope of MCC. The Mondragón University, that has several regional campuses is specialized in Engineering, Business and Administration Training, and Educational Science and Humanities. It is the most relevant center among all the educational centers of the corporation.
